An acacia species with swollen thorn at the base. Ants bore holes to make home inside the swollen base of the spines. In return, they sting herbivores that feed on the acacia, thus creating a symbiotic relationship.
When the wind blows, it creates a whistling sound because of the holes bored on the swollen thorn, hence the name.
